Marigot Takes Home the Title of Miss Wob Dwiyet 2009

On Thursday, October 29th, the title of Miss Wob Dwiyet 2009, went to Samantha Yankey of Marigot. Congratulations to you for a superior performance.  You looked beautiful, poise and very confident. We are proud to be the winner of the Wob Dwiyet contest which is the first win for Marigot, in the history of the contest.  In winning the contest, Miss Yankey, you have encouraged other young girls and boys to dream big because they also have the opportunity to realize their goal.  Our culture is our heritage so we must continue working diligently to keep it alive.

From what I have heard and seen, the show was spectacular.  The stage was beautifully decorated with a lot of vibrant creole colors on a very lifelike, scenic background.  The photographer did a wonderful job. All the contestants looked lovely in their bright and well worn creole outfits.  I love the exciting spirit of the event and hope that next year will be even bigger and brighter.  For those of you who would like to see the photographs they are at www.dominicanewsonline.com.

The island remains very festive with celebrations following one after the other.  One of the most difficult decision to make is which celebration is most important to attend because they are all wonderful.  After viewing those lovely pictures, I can hardly wait until next year’s Independence celebration. Congratulations once again, Miss Yankey, as you work hard to fulfill your commitments and uphold your Miss Wob Dwiyet title.
