We at Classiqué International would like to express our heartfelt sadness and deep concern for the people of Haiti, during this time of a disaster of unbelievable proportion, which has devastated the country, leaving people with little hope for the future. The magnitude of destruction and death is beyond comprehension. We can only imagine what pain and suffering the many families, friends and all those who are directly involved in the recovery effort, are experiencing at this time. As expected, expeditious donations of medical expertise/supplies, food, water and other necessary equipments are on the way to Haiti, from America as well as several other countries — hopefully, the much needed help will arrive in time to save lives, as well as minimize future destruction.
As always, Anderson Cooper (CNN Reporter), as well as the other great and fearless journalists, are doing a great job at keeping the world informed. May God continue to guide and protect all those who are unselfishly risking their lives to help the people of Haiti at this time. We are all reminded that in spite of all the man-made disasters, which occur over a period of days, weeks, months and years, there is definitely a stronger force to be reckoned with — putting things into perspective, this earthquake lasted less than a minute but destroyed what mankind took hundreds of years to build. The death and destruction left behind by the earthquake has affected the entire world and its devastating effects will most certainly last for many, many years to come.
Classiqué is fortunate to have very dedicated, hard working Haitians as part of our small and committed staff. Therefore, I feel very strongly that we as a people must do our part to assist the people of Haiti, in this their greatest time of need — in more ways than one. This is a disaster that has shocked the world and is very difficult to watch; however, watching the destruction of the earthquake without assisting the victims, will be equally devastating.
Classiqué International is planning to host a fund raiser (dinner and dance or party), at the end of February or early March, to assists the people of Haiti. More information will be made available regarding the date and time of the event. This is a very worthy cause so we look forward to your generous support, as we do our part to assist the people of Haiti, during this most disastrous time.
My heartfelt sympathy go out to the haitian people, also those haitians that i have been fortunate to meet in Dominica, mainly Marigot.
Most of us can only imagine the pain and suffering the haitian people are experincing at this time. It could so easily have been any of our caribbean countries.
I know the haitians are a very resilient people, and it is that resilience that will enable them to get through this crisis, with the help of the global community.
It is everyone’s duty as caring human beings to do whatever we can to help. “TOGETHER WE ARE STRONG”.
What a disaster! It is so difficult to understand that such a disaster could have struck a country that was literally down, by all counts. I certainly hope that some good will rise from the ashes. It is very important that we all pull together to do our part regardless of the size or power of our efforts. Is this a wake-up call to have us become more conscious about global warming? Because, as we are experiencing, this winter weather is also very unusual worldwide.
Lena, I must congratulate you on the piece you did on Haiti and it’s people, I concur with what you said, because it is up to all of us to come together and lend a hand in whichever way possible, especially those Haitians that live among us and for those back there. I am sure they are very worried about their families and not hearing makes it much harder. Now is the time to reach out to them by showing how much we care, and I know we can, for we are a people with tremendous generosity.
They are worried about their families over there, and we can understand, so let’s show that generous nature that define us as a people. Also remember that God does not give us more than we can bear and out of the ash hope will survive for the Haitian people.
Zisker,
A very Happy New Year to you my friend. It was quite a treat receiving a comment from you after such a long time. Positive comments make me realize that people do care about what happens in Marigot and Dominica as a whole.
I look forward to returning to Dominica where I will host the benefit affair to help the people of Haiti. Other charitable affairs are being held around Dominica, but I feel strongly that it is important for Classiqué to host an affair in Marigot. Many of the Haitians started off in Marigot and some are currently living and working there. Although the immediate need is financial, food, shelter, medical and so forth, we need to remember the Haitians in our prayers as they live through this most difficult time of death, destruction and despair. You are right, this is a time when we all need to come together and generously support the cause knowing that our contributions, regardless of the size, could determine whether someone lives or dies.
I hope to see you in Dominica sometime this year. Keep the comments coming,
