In reply to Anthony Ismael. Thanks for your interest. I have not read the comments which were made by American Airline regarding landing and take off at the Melville Hall airport. I can tell you that the decision would certainly be a very difficult one to accept by those involved in the current negotiations.

I would guess that the approach from the eastern end is still treacherous. While we may never see an international airport in our life time, the eastern approach must be improved. That can only be accomplished by demolishing one of the mountains. I always wondered if local query companies could mine in that area? They would obtain the material that they need for construction and in return, some of the obstacles would be cleared creating a safer approach from the east. Just a suggestion.

American Airline stated recently, that they will not land in Melville Hall or take off from it when rehabilitation work is completed. Since this is the main airline used by visitors traveling to North America, I wonder what their concerns are and how they can be addressed. It’s disappointing if all this work is done and American still refuses to land or take off at night.

Lena, what a wonderful report I enjoyed reading it I appreciate your comments. I just hope that they will be able to replace the conveient shops in the departure lounge sometimes we need to do some last minute shoping on our way out.Yes,while the work is in progress their will alway be confussion and inconveniences we just need as a people to be patient because at the end of the day it would have been worth it all.
Thank you for keeping us(Dominicans)in the diaspora up to date and informed because we are longing for the airport to be completed so we can travel home more often…
